Possible Starting Points

This is referring to the last (also my first) post about where to start when looking for science and technology related things to talk about. Here is a list of where I'll be looking for information, and it definitely will be increasing with time:

• U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)
• National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)
• American Physical Society (APS)
• National Society of Black Physicists (NSBP)
• American Institute of Biological Sciences (AIBS)

These are just a starting 5. Trust me I will be adding more and more sources to the blog as I continue. It's 2:33 AM and I need to get some sleep. More in the morning, because a journalist's job is never finished.

The Questions

Not to be confused with the Common & Mos Def song of the same name, this is me trying to figure out what it is that I desire to learn. I used to write for a blog which belonged to a friend of a friend. In that period of time (which I estimate to be around 5 months) I covered such interesting topics as music, radio....the lives of people involved in both...okay so I didn't cover much beyond the music. I had to stop writing for this blog on account of the password being changed and then a horrible change to the layout (so horrible that I wasn't able to read the entirety of my posts). But don't worry, I'm back! And this time I'm ready for something different and hopefully exciting. Anybody who knew me as a child can tell you that I was pretty big into science and technology. I even started off at Michigan State (GO GREEN!!!) as a Physics major, but then changed to Journalism. I still enjoy science very much and feel that people need to pay closer attention to some of the advances we continue to make in the field. This blog should help, as well as give me a nice outlet for some journalism experience. I am not an expert, but I am willing offer my two cents.

Back to the title of this post, what are somethings I would like to learn with this "science project"? Hmmm...well let's think:

• What do people look for in a blog?
• How are minorities represented in the blogging community?
• How are we represented in the fields of science and technology?
• How are we represented in the blogging community of science and technology?
• Am I really the only person I know who is trying to do this type of thing?
• What's going on? *plays the Marvin Gaye song...seriously*
• Why should you care?
• How can this help my career?
• Where do I start?

Just as you may be thinking to yourself (how the should I know?) I hope to answer all these questions...and more
